The last day has arrived and today we have a long route to make. As the
flight doesn’t take off until ten pm, we decided to leave the luggage at the
hostel and we went to street Hurtado de Amezada where we will take a bus to
Bermeo. The journey takes about an hour and there are two options, either going
by the highway and within the villages. As we had time we chose the second
option and we saw different villages of the Basque country including Gernika.

Once we got to Bermeo, we decided to visit the church of Saint John of
Gaztelugatxe. For the guides we had from the hostel, this church was almost
inside the village of Bermeo, our surprise was when we decided to head to the
tourist information office and the said us that this church was in some separate
rocks into the middle of the sea (up here we knew it), that we had to come down
a km and then another one in a path full of mud and then climb 270 stairs (that
was not expected) and that it was 15 minutes away by car from the town. To get
there, there’s a bus that runs every two hours, but actually is a van and
leaves you in the middle of the road. Even though, we decided to go buut as we
had to wait two hours we decided to eat and to visit the village.
El poble és preciós i està ple d'històries.
The town is lovely and full of histories.
When we finished eating it was almost time to catch the bus, so we went
down and we stood under the rain at the bus stop. The van had capacity for 7
people and if you ever catch it you have to remark to the driver that
you want to see the church and also the time he will pick you up because if he
doesn’t see anyone he won’t stop and you will have to wait for two more hours
next to the forest and the highway.

vam fer tot i que no vam arribar a l’església. Si mai teniu oportunitat us
Here I let you some of the photos of the route we made even that we didn’t
arrived to the church. If you ever have the opportunity I recommend you to go
because the landscape is amazing.

a temps.
We made the way round running because if not we would lose the van, the
other bus and therefore we would arrive late to Bilbao, luckily we could stand
a final sprint and we took all at time. Once we picked up our bags from the
hostel we went to the bus station of Bilbao to catch the bus to get to the
airport but as we had run so fast we arrived too early so we went to have “dinner”
in a bar nearby. The bar was nice and it was all themed of the Athletic of
Bilbao FC. One good way to say goodbye to the city.
Bilbo hurrengo arte!
